The first day

It has been a great day so far. Labor went pretty well, although our extended family was forced to spend the night in uncomfortable chairs in a cramped waiting room, and we certainly didn't catch up on much sleep during the day today. The actual pushing took almost an hour, and thanks to the epidural was mostly just a pressured sensation. Baby came out, and was a little blue for the first few minutes, but pinked up quitely nicely. He had one nuchal cord, which contributed to some heart-rate slowing at times during labor, but it doesn't appear he has had any problems due to that. He has some pretty significant molding of his head and nose due to his low contracted position for the late part of pregnancy, but that should resolve without problem. Similar, we noted that his right foot was at an odd angle, but the pediatric orthopaedist has already seen him and determined that it was also due to his positioning, and should resolve without problems.
Sarah is just a wonderful mother already. She sits and talks to her new love like a loving mother should, and its encouraging to see. She was a shining light throughout the whole ordeal, and has continued to glow in the 15hrs since delivery.
Our senior pastor visited us this morning, and shared with us from John 10 about the sheep who follow His voice. He did not know that is the passage that adorns the walls of Daniel's nursery. We pray that our child will never know a day that doesn't involve following the Shepard, our Lord Jesus Christ, and that he will never remember not knowing the Lord's Prayer and the Commandments. Pastor Bowers shared this in a message with the entire congregation Sunday night, but pointed towards us, and of course Sarah's labor started shortly thereafter.
We are so richly blessed!!!

Congratulations Sarah and Casey! He is beautiful and I love the name Daniel. Doesn't the Lord humble us in His amazing way to speak through circumstances like your pastor reading the same passage as what is on Daniel's new room while HE provides miracles as Daniel himself. I love you both and can not wait to meet the new addition! Heather
