The Wild Hoglet is now over 10 lbs!!! And you can see it in his chins! Quite amazing. We think it may have something to do with the Karo syrup we are adding to his bottles for "GI health". He just doesn't even look like the same child today, and he is outgrowing outfits left and right. We even have leftover diapers that don't fit anymore!

Therapy is going well, and his range of motion has improved a bunch. He goes for his 2month checkup this Friday, and we pray all will go well and he will brave it out through those vaccines.

My good friend Gomer (Patrick Lightsey) was back on 2 week leave from Iraq this week, and we were able to visit with him and his family Saturday. It was a wonderful time, and we look forward to seeing him back for good in 4 more months (although then he and his wife Paige go to their next posting in Japan for several years). He has been protected thus far, and we trust God for the rest of his time.

Growing

Daniel was 9# 6oz when we weighed him on Monday, gaining about 6oz per week. Craziness. He's got some sweet cheeks and chins, but no rolls anywhere else yet. We hope they'll make an appearance soon.

His therapy goes well. Adair stretches him out pretty fiercely. His range of motion numbers are improving. We had an ultrasound of his hips yesterday to make sure he didn't have a congenital dislocation (sometimes torticollis and that have an association), but they were totally normal, thank the Lord.

Daniel made his first appearance at our favorite Mexican restaurant at lunch today. I think Sarah told the staff to get used to him, cause we can safely expect he'll be back soon. I think Daniel probably inherited the queso gene.

We had a blessed Easter yesterday. Everything is so different now with a child, and every event feels totally unlike the previous years. We have an extra gift to be thankful for, but we also have an extra reason to thank God for providing a Savior, to live and to die and to rise again for us, including Daniel. As cute as Daniel is, he is still a little wretched sinner, totally depraved and unable to provide anything for himself (even a meal or diaper change, much less salvation). So we pray that he will be pulled irresistably to our Lord soon, never having known a day apart from His love.

Saturday fun

We're on vacation, kind of. We're having fun though. Daniel had a great fun morning, kicking and playing. He had his first church service last night, Communion on Good Friday. Well, he actually stayed in the nursing mother's room, but it was close. It was great getting back in the company of the saints regardless for us all. Peace.

Yes this is belated. WE've been busy (somewhat) but mostly I don't have ready Internet access. Daniel is doing great. He's had 2 therapy sessions now, and we've seen tremendous progress already in his neck mobility. You wouldn't even realize something was off unless you were looking specifically for it. (You can check the old pics and sometimes see that he prefers canting his head to the left)

He still eats like a champ. We've taken to calling him our "Wild Hoglet", after his appetite and the recent movie starring John Travolta and Tim Allen.

Our family is having fun, and my schedule has been nice. I have some vacation days coming up, and everyone is better when we are all around. Still growing in size and faith (well, actually Sarah and I are both losing now thankfully). Thanks to the Lord who provides so richly for us. Peace.

Which baby do we have? The fun, playful, adorable one, or the screaming, straining, adorable one? Regardless, I think we'll keep him. He's still the best.

Yes, the trials of a growing baby are real, but we love it. I was just speaking to a mother of twins about her experience. Before Daniel came, I said that I would have been happy with twins. Well, I've rethought that position.. He's perfect as a solo child. Plenty of work as is.

New Great-Aunt Nancy came to visit today, which was a pleasure. Thanks.

Can't figure him out

Every day is a new experience. One day he is fussy/colicky/refluxy and won't sleep, and then the next day he changes and is a model child and we sleep most of the night. This is the fun part, right!?! I've been told that bathroom/medical insight/humor is not appropriate for this blog anymore, so I won't tell you the really funny thing he did yesterday. Ha!

His first therapy appt for his neck got backed up due to therapist illness, so we'll just be cranking his head on our own for a few more days. Wait, that was medical wasn't it?

Don't want to edge out the pics

Some of you may be like me...When I'm around a computer, I frequently will log on to this blog just to check out pictures of my little slugger. So, I'll keep this short so that I don't push those pictures off the front (I don't have any other to put up now). He's doing fine though. We still deal with the typical frustrations of excessive crying and day/night confusion, and it's not easy, but we trust the Lord is continuing to work things out in his perfect plan (yes, I remember my first-week post about him never crying....well, scratch that. Turns out he has an extremely well developed set of lungs). He's still the sweetest, cutest boy though.

Vacation

Hey everyone. Sorry about the delay between posts. Since finishing my last call on Saturday morning, I have been on vacation. That basically consisted of resting and spending time with my burgeoning family, which was exactly what they and I needed. Its been a blessed time. Mostly I'm just glad February is over, and I'll be returning to a sane schedule.

The news around Eusebia of course involves Daniel. He is growing, and so much fun, particularly due to the discovery we made. He's been a little (okay, not a little) gassy for the past 2 weeks, and has actually been miserable most of the time he's been awake lately. We bit the bullet and started giving him some Mylicon drops with his meals, and he is a different baby, much more fun and less irritable. I'm learning more pediatrics from him than my professors.

The other health stuff is a little more trying, but we just thank the Lord for His provision in all of this. Those of you who saw Daniel early on knew he had a crooked foot from being in stuck in mommy contracting for so long. We saw the Orthopod in the hospital, who said it was going to be fine. Over the last month, it has straightened out nicely, as predicted. On our followup visit yesterday, it checked out fine. Since we already had a visit scheduled, we waited and asked him regarding Daniel's head and neck. Daniel has a strong preference to turn and rest his head to the left. Well, turns out this is actually getting to the point of being problematic, and the Orthopod thinks he has some limitation in getting back to the other side, and thus needs some stretching of his neck muscles with a physical therapist. This condition is called torticollis. Daniel's is mild now, and usually is turns out fine with some therapy. We're thankful we caught it early enough. Sarah is going to have a little more on her table taking him to twice weekly appointments, just what she needs. Again, praise God for giving her the ability to not be employed, cause if she had to go back to work next month this would really be a problem. She was also able to go for frequent OB visit before delivery as well.
