To The Beach!!

Yeah! We go to Ocean Isle, NC tomorrow. Unfortunately, I only get to stay till Monday night ( I have a mandatory course next week in Columbia), and Sarah and Daniel stay until Friday, when I have my first (of 3) graduation banquets. I'm sad that I'll be away from them for so long of course, but I trust the Lord will grant us a blessing through our time apart. Peace. God bless.

Tiny girl

Daniel has a new friend. Our good friends Seth and Margaret Rogers had their 3rd little girl Monday, and are going home today, praise the Lord! This is especially sweet b/c little Lydia Ruth is only 4# 3oz . She is a beautiful tiny doll baby. I just saw her (born here at Richland hospital), and I have a hard time even remembering that day not even 4 months ago that we brought Daniel home, b/c he has changed so, so much. She even beats him in the tiny department!

We are going to the beach Saturday. Hopefully I'll be able to update before then. If not, God bless.

Happy Memorial Day!

Cute pic of Daniel in Sandestin
At the wedding, wearing his cute sailor outfit

Where are you hiding behind that fun blanket?!
Daniel's very first Waffle House experience, one of Daddy's favorites! And they're everywhere. Fortunately, this was not a smokey one.

We've had a nice relaxing weekend, and a sweet Sabbath yesterday. Our child grows, and laughs, and makes all sorts of new noises. One bad thing though...our days of nice relaxing restaurant meals are over. He used to fall asleep instantly on car rides, and typically sleep through our dates regardless of nap schedule. Now, he does more what he feels like, and sometimes that means pacing through restaurants while the other parent sits at the table.
Still, we love this sweet child, and look forward to lots more trials and blessings.

Praise the Lord!

B/c our baby was a great traveler! Yes, Daniel successfully made it to Destin and back. He was a dream baby in the car (although unfortunately all that still time has stiffened up his neck some). Slept almost the entire way. The key was taking long breaks regularly where he could eat and stretch and be active, and taking his bouncy seat into retail establishments so he could kick, kick, kick. Of course, the trip took 50% longer than I'm used to, but it was worth it.

The wedding went great. Very beautiful locale, and nice weather. Unfortunately we were working almost non-stop (Sarah being matron of honr), so there wasn't much vacation about it! Still, a good experience, and makes me eager for the actual beach vacation coming up in 2 weeks!

Peace. God bless.

Halfway there

We made it to Atlanta safely! Daniel didn't make a peep last night (of course, we purposely drove after his bedtime). Fun times with Pop and Nana so far. Here's a few pics from recently, including one from Sarah's good friend Lara who made the drive from Chattanooga today just to visit us. Thanks! i'll try to post a video as well.

Yes, I can post pics. See journal below

As you may remember, we refer to our child as the "Wild Hoglet", from that funny biker movie. Well, I couldn't resist having a onesie made that shows our child's true "Wild" side. Let's Ride!!!
Who's that?
It's a baby!!!

I lied

Aren't they precious!?
He can finally hold a toy! Although he doesn't really realize it's in his hand.
Cuteness personified.

I do have the ability to post some pictures. So, see below for the journal that goes with these pics.

A bit slow I know

Sorry it's been awhile. No good excuse. Thanks for those who have left comments.

Well, Sarah's sister Stacey is finally having her big day this Saturday. Her wedding is in Destin, FL, so we are making the drive this week. We are excited of course to be adding Larry to the family, although unfortunately they will be continuing to live in New Orleans, so far away... Of course, the big question mark is Daniel's travel ability. He's never been more than 30m in the car, so we don't know what to expect, or how we will tolerate screaming when we can't even take him out of the seat to comfort him. Pray for that. We will be stopping in Atlanta to see Pop and Nana on our way down, giving Daniel a brief respite from the travel.

It's been a good time. This last week has been marvelous. There seems to be something special about 3 months of age, or is it the 13#'s? Regardless, we have a new baby. There's a fraction of the gassy/fussiness, much more consistent sleep at night, and he is in a much better mood through the day. He really enjoys pushing up and looking in the mirror and seeing the other "baby", and talking to him. Ahh! And to you new parents out there (Byers), you quickly forget the struggles of those first few weeks (and then start thinking about when to have the next baby.....wait a second, are we crazy!?!?!).

I have some cute pictures, but I doubt I will be able to post them until we come back from Florida. Sorry! Peace. God bless.

Can't push the cuteness off

I'll keep it short, so the cute pictures of Daniel stay on this title page. We're doing great. It seems like 3 months may be the magic age for him, as our last 3 days and nights have been outstanding. Much more sleep at the appropriate times, less fussiness, and more smiles. Still very early to say of course, and we know that even if things take a downturn the Lord will help us stand up under it. "This too shall pass" is what we've been saying for awhile, and maybe its here..???

Lots of pics 2

No, those are not Georgia Tech colors. Refer to below.
Uncle Ben and Cousin Nate have devised new tools for torturing our poor child apparently.
With friends Todd and Jennifer Bell at our last discipleship meeting of the semester
Daniel hangs out with his betrothed, Helen (born the day after Daniel to Sarah's pharmacy school friend) and her brother Henry. I think this could be an illustration from Gulliver's Travels. And yes, they are wearing matching "I Love Hugs" onesies!
Cute family photo in our seersucker from Sarah's birthday

Lots of pics

Check out those ripped abs!
No question who he pulls for
Pop and Aunt Courtney, can you check out my teeth now?
After seeing this picture, we started referring to him as Jabba. He weighed 13 pounds yesterday!!!
Zak and Shelby's new little beagle. Very cute!

It's over

Yes, it is complete. I am now a post-call forever resident. Very nice to be done, and I'm on vacation for a few days now. Daniel is getting his neck therapy done as we speak, and it continues to go well. His GI issues are getting better and better. Now, if anybody has tips on how to get him to not squeak and squall from 3-6am, despite that he isn't hungry, we're welcoming those.
We had our last SALT discipleship meeting of the term last night, a joint meeting with spouses. Very sweet, encouraging time. Plus, a very good meal.
