Joy

Good week here, although busy as usual. Daniel keeps growing bigger by the day, now at about 8.5 lbs. Having some trouble with constipation, but getting by allright. At least he doesn't have to have his clothes changed nearly as often. Remember this old picture from when he was still in momma's belly? Sorry don't have a new one for you today. I know everyone likes to see them, and I should have more time after this month is over.

I just wanted to share a little about the joy we have in our life. Daniel certainly is a blessing from the Lord, and Sarah and I's marriage is strong. We have a nice home, plenty of food, and enough dough for an occasional vacation or two. These things make us happy. However, way beyond happiness is joy. Happiness is like shifting sand. We may go broke, our health may go, or worse, and our happiness would go with them quickly. But joy is something that transcends. It is based upon the knowledge that God is God, that He controls everything in His powerful and tender grip, and that we are safe forever. We celebrate not the blessings, but the Blessor, and he is a Rock in all circumstances, seeming good or bad. The Joy of the Lord is our strength. I pray that anyone reading this, whether hurting or happy, would know that only through true faith in Christ can you have joy that endures through thick and thin, all the while smiling as you enjoy Him alone.

Thanks.

I needed this - in a very big way.

Continue blessing the Lord! He blesses others through your words and open heart.

A Sister In Christ

"Rock of Ages." Consider anew the following words:

Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee;
let the water and the blood, from thy riven side which flowed,
be of sin the double cure, cleanse me from its guilt and pow'r.

Not the labors of my hands can fulfill thy law's demands;
could my zeal no respite know, could my tears forever flow,
all for sin could not atone; thou must save, and thou alone.

Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to thy cross I cling;
naked, come to thee for dress; helpless, look to thee for grace;
foul, I to the Fountain fly; wash me, Savior, or I die.

While I draw this fleeting breath, when mine eyelids close in death,
when I soar to worlds unknown, see thee on thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee.
